In bantamweight championship action, Sean O’Malley lived up to his promise by successfully defending his title against Marlon Vera in a five-round bout.

Marlon Vera, Miami in the first round O’Malley showed off his talent and landed a powerful knee attack, while Vera played patiently as the round ended with Sean O’Malley in the lead. Finished with a 10-9 lead on the scorecards.

Poirier, the world’s greatest fighter of UFC, lost in the ‘BMF’ title bout against Justin Gaethje in 2023, due to which questions were raised on him. However, he silenced his doubters by accepting the clash with St. Denis. He is a new rising star in the world of UFC who has been making a name for himself in the lightweight division since 2022.

In the first round, St. Denis aggressively pursued Poirier and began to throw a flurry of strikes. Poirier looked to be in the thick of it, St. Denis won the round 10-9 according to MMA Fighting’s scorecards. Looked dominant over Poirier.

In the second round, Poirier appeared to be coming into his own, as his corner advised him to abandon guillotine attempts. It paid off when Poirier landed an uppercut that sent St. Denis down. A risky guillotine attempt from Poirier forced St. Denis to escape. Poirier sent St. Denis to the canvas with a body shot and left hook. St. Denis moved forward and continued the fight, attacking Poirier with a devastating right hook to win the round and end the fight.

In a high-stakes lightweight bout, Dustin Poirier prevailed, lasting 2:32 in round 2.

UFC’s mainstay, Gilbert Burns joined the mixed martial arts scene in 2014 and has faced a lot of challenges in the welterweight division. Despite four wins, Burns lost his title shot against Kamaru Usman. Since then, Burns continued to face tough challenges for the welterweight title.

Australian rising star Della Maddalena is a rising star in the UFC in 2022 with three consecutive first-round knockouts. Enters UFC 299 as a strong contender with three more wins under his belt.

In the first round, Burns displayed his fighting spirit, scoring Della Maddalena with a takedown and striking Della Maddalena with effective ground control. In the second round, Della Maddalena landed significant strikes that sent Burns reeling; despite a takedown from Burns, Della Maddalena defended herself, eventually landing a flurry of knees and punches that forced the referee to intervene. Burns, leading 2-0 in the round, demonstrated her flexibility against the aggressive Della Maddalena. However, Della Maddalena’s relentless attacks paid off in the third round.

Petr Yan vs Song Yadong: Yan Edges Out Song in Epic Bantamweight Showdown

Petr Yan has had a tough journey in the UFC since he won the UFC Bantamweight title a few years ago, losing his Bantamweight title to Aljaman Sterling. Petr Yan’s most recent win came via unanimous decision over Cory Sandhagen, however he has suffered three losses and today faces him against Song Yadong.

Song, 26, has transitioned into a legitimate title threat and won his last fight with a five-round unanimous decision over Chris Gutierrez. These two youngsters will be seen fighting against each other in the ring today.

Yan’s consistent jab and right hand proved effective in the first round. Song appeared to be struggling to keep up with Yan’s pace. The atmosphere kept changing in favor of Yan in the second round. Despite Song’s good start, Song looked vulnerable to Yan’s strategic and calculated attacks, with the former champion securing takedowns that tied the score at 19–19. The third round saw Yan lose momentum; in an exciting round, Song was left bruised and battered by Yan’s speed and well-calculated attacks.

Result:
In the official decision, Yan emerged victorious with a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28), marking an important step in his journey to reclaim the bantamweight throne.
