Harshit Rana reveals team’s strategy for bowling heroic last over in recent interview

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won their first match of IPL 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a thrilling match by 4 runs at the Eden Gardens. The real hero of that match was Harshit Rana. This player’s brilliant bowling in the last over ensured the victory of KKR.

Harshit emerges as KKR hero with lethal spell against SRH

Harshit Rana has become a hero for KKR because he bowled a lethal spell against SRH. Three important wickets were taken in this match in which important wickets like Mayank , Heinrich Klaasen, and Shahbaz Ahmed were taken. Gave 33 runs in his four overs at an economic rate of 8.25.

SRH needed 13 runs in the last over in which Harshit took two important wickets giving just 8 runs in which he dismissed SRH captain Pat Cummins and dangerous playing Heinrich Klaasen.

This season started with a controversy for Harshit as the first wicket of this season was that of Mayank, who was opening for SRH. Harshit’s celebration after taking the wicket was completely different.

After taking the wicket, he was seen giving a “flying kiss” to Mayank, then after that Mayank Agarwal was seen staring at Harshit with sharp eyes. This was the reason that because of these two players this match became quite memorable.

Andre Russell made headlines with match-winning performance against SRH

When Harshit was asked in one of his interviews, what was your reaction when you were given the last over, “The captain told me to bowl the last over because if Mitchell Starc bowls brilliantly in 19 overs then you will have a lot of runs to save runs. You have, if you do well in the last over today then you will become the hero of the day, it was the team’s plan to hit a six on the first ball but then bowled a slower ball delivery which was analyzed from outside and Klaasen was out on the ball. There was a similar plan for Gaya and SRH captain Pat Cummins”.

24-year-old Harshit has played a total of 9 matches in his IPL career so far, in which he has taken 9 wickets at an economic rate of 8.88. However, Andre Russell was the player of the match against SRH as he scored unbeaten 64* runs in 25 balls and also took important 2 wickets in two overs giving 25 runs in bowling.

KKR’s next match will be seen in RCB’s home M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 29 at 07:30 pm.
