BCCI increase Test match fees to INR 45 lakh

To promote and revive Indian Test cricket, BCCI made an important announcement, in which it has launched ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ for senior men players, which offers increase in match fees. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced on March 9 that the match fee of Test players, which was currently being paid at Rs 15 lakh per match, has now been increased to Rs 45 lakh.

The decision comes after players including Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar preferred IPL over Ranji Trophy cricket, despite the board’s directive to emphasize on Test cricket. The main objective of this incentive scheme is to create a balance towards Test cricket and encourage players to give priority to Test cricket. So that the future of Indian Test is ensured.

BCCI unveils ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’

Currently, an Indian Test cricketer gets Rs 15 lakh, while reserve players get Rs 7.5 lakh. But now under this new scheme, the structure of match fees is changing. Expressing his satisfaction, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said, “I am delighted to announce the launch of the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ for senior men, which aims to provide financial growth and stability to our esteemed athletes. The ‘Cricket Promotion Scheme’ is a progressive step to acknowledge the importance of Test Cricket. This pioneering initiative is inextricably linked with our broader vision, which is centered around promoting Test Cricket as the undisputed pinnacle of the game. Give.”

This scheme, effective from the 2022-23 season, will be offered on top of the existing fee of Rs 15 lakh for Test matches. BCCI has announced the module keeping in mind a possible nine Test matches per season. Players playing up to four Tests will get the current Rs 15 lakh per match, while reserve players will get half that amount.

Awards to the first eleven players of BCCI Test cricket

For the players who have played the last five to six matches, the match fee for the first eleven players will be doubled to Rs 30 lakh, while for the reserve players, they will get Rs 15 lakh per match. However, for seven or more games in a season, first eleven players will be entitled to Rs 45 lakh per match, which is much higher than the current match fees for first eleven players.

This scheme will motivate the players to improve and reward their game, promote the feeling of financial security towards Test cricket and give their best contribution in the longer format of the game and create a new attraction for the pure format of Test cricket.

BCCI’s clear stance towards Test cricket is a shining testament to BCCI’s dedication towards the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’, which provides financial stability and motivation for the players.
