IPL 2024: ABdeVilliers feels Shivam Dube never felt comfortable inside the RCB dressing room

Match number 7 of IPL 2024 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) was played on Tuesday 26 March at MA Chidambaram Stadium in which Shivam Dube batting brilliantly, a different transformation was seen in Dube since last year. Therefore it has become a topic of discussion for everyone.

From RCB debut to CSK stint, a journey of 53 IPL matches

Shivam Dube made his IPL debut in 2019 and has played a total of 53 matches since then. Dubey is a powerful middle order batsman and medium pacer bowler. Dube’s IPL debut was in the team of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), in which RCB bought Dube for INR 5 crores.

After playing for RCB for two years, Rajasthan bought him for INR 4.40 crores in 2021. Seeing Dube’s talent, CSK placed a bet on him in 2022 and since then till now he has been associated with CSK.

Dube has become an important player for CSK because after 2022, there has been a different transformation in this player. Playing for Chennai in 2022, he scored 289 runs in 11 matches, which included two half-centuries.

However, while playing for RCB in 2020, he scored only 129 runs in 11 matches, which does not reflect the real talent of this player. But ever since joining CSK, Dube’s strike rate is also 150+ and in the 2023 season of IPL, he scored 418 runs in 16 matches, which includes 3 half-centuries.

Dube has started showing his true potential in the initial season of IPL 2024 because till now he has played only two matches in this season in which he has scored a total of 85 runs. And scored 51 runs in just 23 balls against Gujarat. On the other hand, Ravindra Ravindra, playing for the first time in IPL, had scored 46 runs in just 20 balls in his second match.

In this match, GT won the toss and decided to bowl, Chennai Super Kings scored 206 runs while batting. Chasing the target of 207 runs, GT replied losing 8 wickets and scoring only 14 runs in 20 overs. And Shivam Dube was also chosen player of the match for his explosive batting.

AB de Villiers praised Dube’s change, comparison with Yuvraj Singh emerged

Dube has spread his magic in two seasons of IPL in such a way that no one is able to stop themselves from talking about this player. Even a great batsman like AB de Villiers is talking about Dube. De Villiers said, “Shivam Dube never really had that style in the RCB camp, he was very shy, but in the CSK camp he feels free to be himself. CSK does the same year after year, In which a new player comes”.

Dube is even being compared with the great batsman Yuvraj Singh. Ever since Dube has been batting for CSK since 2022, Shivam Dube has hit the maximum number of 57 sixes, hence Shivam Dube is being called 2.O version.

CSK’s next match will be played against Delhi Capitals on 31st March 2024 at 7:30pm at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
